Digg: Tech Site and bash Christianity site?

This has been a problem I've started to notice with digg as it starts to grow, a lot of stories are sneaking through that aren't tech related. There's a whole bunch of anti-christian articles that pop up on digg for no apparent reason. For example: Skate For The Lord - "Jesus Is Way Cool...., man" submitted by yukevster 35 days ago An Alabama church holds a "Fear Factor" youth ministry event, where teens swallow goldfish and try to escape a locked coffin... oohh, it's just sooo cool! I wanna be a Christian too! Yay!...... Now there have been quite a few bash Christianity links lately, but this one, that I saw on my RSS a while ago, was the one that really bothered me. First of all, this has no tech related stuff whatsoever in the article. Second of all, the article itself is actually quite interesting. It talks about how Christian teens have become more prominent in the states. I recommend you read it. Third of all, But back to my rant. There's also something else: Just because some christians attack offensive movies and whatnot, doesn't mean all of us do. I wouldn't want to be put under the label of Jack Thompson for example. Keep in mind that the stories that say "Christians sue" and "Christains attack" don't necessarily represent all of us. And yes, fellow christians, we have been using digg for the wrong purposes as well. Digg is not the way to spread the word of god, unless it is tech related. You may notice the above article was written differently. I hope to submit this to digg so that maybe some people would read it and stop doing this stuff. I salute you. (If you like this blog, please digg it)

I don't care if I'm cool or not. In fact, I'm a complete and total nerd anyways. My point is that digg doesn't need to have anti-christain stories that don't involve tech.

And what the hell do you know about Christianity that wasn't prodcast over the news or shoved in your face by one of the more extremist 'Christians' Matthew, quit being so quick to shun away something. I think Christianity is sad in its current state and should become about Following Christ and searching for Truth. I don't even know how I feel about the Bible now its been translated so many times and so poorly (albeit it is a bit of a tough job).

All I have to say to the other Chrisitans out there is it's not about rules its about your life here and after. And eternity is infinitely longer than 80 years.

edit: broadcast, not prodcast, Apple is taking over my brain and I dont even own one of those little guys (iPod).

Christianity IS about following christ. I am a christian, I read the bible, and I go to church. I don't believe that the bible has been translated poorly. All real translations of the bible are translated from the original texts.

And for the triple post:

The way I see hell is more of an inevitablity. The world is heading there and your on your way, your being offered a way out, a free ticket. If you don't take it that's really too bad.

"All real translations of the bible are translated from the original texts."

Do some research and you will quickly find that English doesn't have the verbal capacity to convey things that have words in Hebrew and the like.

Many people mis-interpret or selective phrase things from the Bible. This is one of the ways Christians have gotten such a poor image.

That's what a concordance is for.

"Thats what a concordance is for"

It helps a bit, but is far from knowing exactly the circumstances what was written was written under. The scoial norms for the given time period. The common mindset, etc. I could go on, but I wish I could get you to come to my Church for one sermon. My pastor had a lot of schooling and encourages us not to take what he says without question. He doesnt even preach. He is very real and is something more than humble, he gets mad if you compliment him directly or put him on any pedistol. He makes it clear his life is as bad or worse than everyone elses. A bunch of the congregation left when he came because he put everything out in the open from a previous case where some gossip and judgemental people had rotted the church from the inside. It is one of two Churchs I have been to in my life where I dont feel like I am constantly being told everything I do is wrong, and that I should act the way the pastor tells me to instead of God.

Kiel, I find that these comments that we have exchanged have been intellectually stimulating, but I'm firm on my beliefs of the bible. Thank you. I salute you.
